Not only are the games fun in See Me Read, so are the quizzes to help tickle your child's memory and imagination. These build attention skills and enable your child to better benefit from his or her education.
But many of the stories add another dimension--reminders, did-you-knows, simple information, and lessons. For example:
1. The F lesson, page 12, teaches the importance of knowing important information that could save lives.
2. The S talks about the fun it is to sleigh and ski in the snow, but it also reminds your child to dress warmly in a sweater and scarf and to watch carefully for trees, cars and people. Having fun also means being careful.
3. Lesson Z is WONDERFUL in the message of self worth and that the simplest things are important to others and to themselves.
4. Farmer Pete in the P lesson talks about manners and tells us that there is a right and a wrong way to eat properly.
5. B in Sleepy Betsy lets us know that playing, exercising and meaningful activities are super important, but so are quiet things like reading and resting.
6. And so many of the games reinforce what fun it is to learn and to go to school on a big bus and learn how to use pencils, paper and all sorts of things as we learn about the whole world.
7. And SH in Sheila's Magic Shoes makes certain that we find out that real magic is not in shoes or wands or potions, but in ourselves--real magic is INSIDE US. When we know this, we learn we can do anything if we want it enough to work hard.
8. And just as important, G in Gilda's Little Inner Voice lets her know that it really FEELS GOOD when one does a good job--that when we do out best, we feel VERY PROUD of ourselves--when we do things well ourselves, nobody can take away that super terrific feeling, can they?
9. And there is really NO PLACE LIKE HOME, as Brahma Cow teaches us when she goes through fields and streams, sweat and tears to find her way back home after the farmer sold her to another farmer. She loved her own home and let Farmer Clark know that she did not want to LIVE ANYWHERE ELSE.
